It’s our privilege to give families an experience they’ll never forget. Our staff are renowned for their attention to detail, giving you a one-of-a-kind experience that will be the talk of family gatherings for years to come.
We want you to feel like royalty from the moment you arrive, whatever the occasion. Whether it’s an intimate family gathering or a get-together with the whole clan, we have everything you need.
Let’s take a look at how a typical weekend at Fenton Tower unfolds.
Friday – Welcome to Fenton Tower
The magic begins the second you step through our private castle doors. You will be met with a warm welcome from our manager, Alan, and a cup of tea or coffee in the Great Hall before you explore Fenton Tower for the first time.
This is your chance to get to know the castle and set the scene for your Scottish getaway.
With 7 beautiful bedrooms at your disposal (sleeping a total of 13 guests), you’re spoilt for choice in where to rest your head each night. Our rooms combine the historical charm of the 16th-century tower with all the modern comforts to make you feel right at home – including a cosy dressing gown.
For larger parties, we have two additional cottages on the grounds which sleep up to 4 guests each.
Once you’ve settled into your lodgings, it’s time to re-group and discover the rest of Fenton Tower. A dram of Scottish whisky in front of the log fire is a firm favourite among our guests, and the perfect start to your weekend.
Later, take your celebration to our stunning candlelit dining room, with seating for up to 32 guests. The vaulted ceiling and regal atmosphere will make you feel like royalty as you enjoy the indulgent culinary delights available at Fenton Tower – you can find out more in our recent blog post!
Our menus are designed around your tastes and packed with the best local ingredients. Whether an exciting ‘fire table’ BBQ or an all-out dinner party, we’ll give you a culinary experience you’ll never forget.
After a sumptuous feast and late-night conversions into the wee hours, there is no more blissful feeling than falling asleep in your luxurious private room.
Saturday – Entertainment and Adventure
After a lazy start to your morning, it’s tempting to stay in and enjoy the splendor of Fenton Tower. To help you make the most of your stay, we have a selection of activities available.
Give your loved ones a day to remember with a thrilling shoot accompanied by our experienced hosts. Head to our sister venue Fenton Brunt Club, for partridge and pheasant shooting for up to eight people.
If that’s not your thing, we can arrange a morning or afternoon of clay pigeon shooting or archery on the grounds.
Looking for a more peaceful way to spend the afternoon? You’re also in the perfect place for sea, loch, and river fishing. We can book you a one-of-a-kind, bespoke Scottish fishing experience with an expert guide. A great opportunity for family bonding – and some light-hearted competition for the catch of the day!
Naturally, tee times are easily secured at one of the many golf courses a stone’s throw from the Tower for any golfers who stay with us.
If you want to explore the local area, we recommend checking out the historic Rosslyn Chapel, located less than an hour’s drive from Fenton Tower, or popping down the road to North Berwick’s fascinating National Museum of Flight.
For more adventurous families, Foxlake is a must-visit, with wakeboarding, segways, and an Aqua Park on offer.
Some of our guests like to travel further afield to get the most out of their weekend. Alnwick Castle, just an hour and a quarter from Fenton Tower, is a popular spot for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey enthusiasts. You could also venture south to the Scottish Borders, visiting Abbotsford House (the home of Sir Walter Scott), followed by lunch at Burts Hotel in Melrose.
And if the unpredictable Scottish weather gets the better of you, you can always head to our library with a steaming cup of tea and curl up with a good book.
Saturday night – Cosy Quality Time and Fine Dining
After your exhilarating day, it’s time to head inside to relax for a while with the people you love. Sit back in a comfortable armchair in our relaxing Great Hall, grab some blankets, and catch up with your family. You can even throw a few logs on the fire – it is Scotland, after all!
If you fancy a wee tipple to get the evening off to a great start, make your way to the private bar in our library.
At dinner, it’s time to experience the very best that Scotland has to offer. For an extra-special experience, some of our guests even like to hire Highland black-tie to take the celebration to the next level.
Sunday morning – A hearty breakfast
After a sensational night’s sleep, soak in your final glorious views of East Lothian as you rest in bed with a cup of coffee and a newspaper.
Before you check out, bring your luxurious weekend to a close with the most important meal of the day. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, delicious pastries, and a full Scottish breakfast await you in the dining room courtesy of our in-house chef, fuelling you up before you hit the road. This is your perfect opportunity to plan your return trip to Fenton Tower!
Then, it’s time for us to bid you goodbye – until next time, that is.
